What Distortion Pedal Should I Buy?

I have a Gibson Flying V with seymour duncan jb-10 and pearly gates pickups, all run through a randall solid state half-stack. Any suggestions to get some decent Heavy Metal Distortion out of this setup without it sounding cheap? I don't just mean noise; my current rig is very versatile, but it doesn't quite have the razor sharp distorted tone I am looking for.
Brands I have been looking at:
Proco-Turborat and Rat 2 (yes I know they sound better with tube amps, but bear with me.)
Rocktron- Metal Planet, Silver Dragon, Rampage.
Electro Harmonix- Big Muff Pi, Micro Metal Muff, Metal Muff w/ Top Boost, Little Big Muff.

I have been using the original Pro-Co Ratt since 1985 with an all tube Marshall 1/2 stack. I love this pedal. I never gig with out taking it with me. I know the re-issue of the original doesn't look the same but a friend of mine bought one and they sound the same. If you want the original look search E-Bay. Also I've tried and have owned MANY distortion pedals in my 34+ years of playing and I always come back to the Ratt. Peace Brother.

Can anyone give me information about an S Yairi acoustic guitar model 710 made in 1975? Value and if any good?

Any info on S Yairi guitar is welcome. I also have a S Yairi Virtuoso.

It depends hugely on its condition. Are there any scratches, marks, signs of ageing, warping etc If so each one will reduce its worth.

You will also need to find someone who is a specialist collector, guitars are not well known as good investments.

If it's a good model, with only minor defects, you can expect several hundred pounds at least.

Classic Humbucker

Question about guitar pickups (humbuckers, single coil, active and passive)?

As far as I know (what little that is), humbuckers can be either active or passive while single coils can only be passive. I could be wrong, but who knows. Anyway, what is the best combination to have on your guitar if you want to go from either classic or modern metal to something soft and sweet that still has a good, unblemished tone to it? I've been eying one guitar that has three "Mega'Tron" humbuckers and you can use any combination of them at one time (the "Stump-o-matic"). I have also been looking at a guitar that has the HSH formation (humbucker, single, humbucker). What's going on there? Is the single coil used for more clean tones? Don't really know... Anyway, I've been hearing that some of the most popular humbuckers are Seymour Duncans (don't know what type, exactly) and EMG's (81 and 85). Any thoughts and opinions on this, or if the Mega'Tron ones are any good?

The stories of how a groom proposes to his bride (or vice-versa) are endless, but they can certainly bring a smile to those that hear these tales of love.

How the proposal occurs sometimes comes as a spontaneous act, fueled by the spark of intense desire. Other proposals are narrated by a well-planned, time-consuming, yet creative venture.

• Use a book to write out sweet memories of the time you and your loved one have spent together, or make an album of pictures of you two together. Then, cut out a section at the back of the book or album. When the book or album is opened to the final pages, inside will sit a dazzling engagement ring.
• Hot air balloon ride. Find a local company that specializes in these adventures, and make sure your soon-to-be fiance is not afraid of heights!
• Trip to New York City's Rockefeller Center. Pop the question in the middle of the ice skating rink. If you work it out beforehand you might be able to have the ice cleared so that it is only you and your significant other on the ice.
• Take a trip abroad to London, UK. Ride on the tallest ferris wheel in the Western Hemisphere-the London Eye-and let your loved one know how much they mean to you and ask, "Will you marry me?"
• Travel to the happiest place on earth! Stay in a resort on site of Disney World in Orlando, FL! There are many places to propose, such as the Rose Garden at the Magic Kingdom (which has a wonderful view of the Castle, and is right below where Tinker bell makes her descent during the nighttime fireworks show). Or take a stroll to the wishing well near the Castle at dusk for a truly romantic proposal. Another option that is absolutely magical involves collaborating with a travel agent that can help you to book dinner before the fireworks show inside the Magic Kingdom Castle! While dining in the Castle, you can arrange for Walt Disney World Cast Members to bring out the engagement ring situated on top of a glass slipper. Then you can propose to your special someone right before you look out the stained glass windows to see beautiful fireworks highlight the sky!

How do I get an even coat of finish on my guitar?

I'm doing a first time finish on my Fender Usa Stratocaster. I'm going to do a bullion gold like on the Gibson Les Paul Goldtops. My question is, how do I make sure it is an even coat all around the guitar and not blochy in spots? It seems like you could easily make the guitar finish uneven. Any tips or tricks on how to make it in even finish?

Lacquer is used for guitar finishes. The finish is then buffed, after it is completely dry, for an even gloss. This is a tricky process, and I suggest that you work on a similar piece of wood first to practice until you get it right.
