How do you change the wires to the output jack in a strat?

i bought a whole new pickguard with pickups and all and now all that is lefty is to connect it to the output jack.. but i need to replace the wire that connects from the volume pot, to the output jack...

The wire has like, a wire inside of it, so it's like two wires in one if you get what i mean.

where could i buy one of these, and about how much would they cost?

Guitar Pickups.......?

Would the DiMarzio PAF® 36th Anniversary Neck pick up and the Seymour Duncan JB bridge pick up sound good together on a Dean Evo Tevo guitar?

In short, yes, I do think so.

A mahogany body in general will give a warmer, rounder, rich tone, and the JB is a pickup that has more treble and mid-presence. This emphasis will help it cut through the mix very well, I feel that it balances out the tone of mahogany very well. There's a reason why the JB in the bridge and the '59 in the neck are the most popular pickup combination in the world!

According to DiMarzio.com, the 36th Anniversay PAF neck is pretty well-balanced. In the description of the pickup itself they said that one of their aims was to keep the Bass Strings from being too muddy - if its patterned after classic PAF pickups, then keep in mind that a lot of those older guitars were indeed mahogany. I would absolutely expect this pickup to have a great clean and lead tone. It will not be very bright, more of a "round warm" sound vs the brighter middy/treble sound of the JB.

Keep in mind that there are a lot of little modifications you can do to your electronics to tailor the sound to your guitar... including changing the pot and cap values.

So the normal value of humbucker volume pots is 500kohms (kilo ohms). If the pickup is simply too bright, put in 250kohm pots. Too dark? Put in 1 Meg ohm pots. Need the tone control to cut less or more treble (ie too effective or not effective enough)? Change the cap value... umm.... links below... =)

I was wondering if I change the pickups in a guitar to a different brand, will it make a noticeable difference?

So I was going to do something for a science project for next year and I was thinking, I'd might as well do it with something in the guitar family. I was also thinking, if I bought a Squier and since they have a decent rep, and put a set of Fender Custom Shop '69 Strat Pickups in it, will it make it to the sound quality of a Fender?

It would give you that vintage sound no problem. Although if you run your guitar throug any sort of pod then there's no reason to change out your pickups. If you do it the issue you would run into is putting the pickups in a squier. First of all the hardware on a squire is all pretty crappy. Second squiers are cheep for a reason, they play like crap. they go out of tune very easy, are made of crappy would (which will affect your resonation) the action is pretty bad and you would probably have to shave down some of the frets. It would take alot of set up and buying new parts to make it half decent. Your intonation will more than likely be off, and on my friends old squier the pickups weren't even in the right place, two of them missed the harmonic. If your going to do a picup swap and you want a fender style guitar dont get anything less than a MIM strat. If I were you I would look into buying a body and neck for a fender style guitar and do all the electronics. If you can find a swimming pool routed Strat Style Body you could even throw in 3 Humbuckers. So to answer your question yes the sound that you get would be vintage but the guitar would still play like crap and more than likely it still wouldn't sound good due to the bad action and the intonation issues associated with a squire. If your going to put new pickups in a guitar, at least get a decent one or you will run into issue's.

i intend on purchasing parts from this website to make my custom bass guitar http://www.warmoth.com/ .. I have a few questions before i take the step ..

1. Is it a good idea?
2. What do i exactly need to assemble the bass?
3. Would it be economical?
4. Would it sound exactly like a high price bass at half the cost minus the brand name if the correct parts are chosen?

No, not if you're trying to save money.

This is not like building a model from a kit. You need woodworking skills and luthiery skills. Screw up and the guitar is a useless pile of junk.

Can pick ups be removed from a wedding dress?

I found a dress I absolutely love. It's "the dress" except for one detail, it has pick ups in the skirt. Does anyone know if those can be removed and if it's a major cost? I haven't found any other dress like it.

Unfortunately, removing pickups from a dress is not a good idea.

Basically pickups not only determine the width of the skirt, but they also determine the length.

Without seeing the dress, you have to understand that in today's styles some pickups are done in uniform patterns while others are not. Some are scattered/random and therefor the skirt width and length are adjusted accordingly.

Also, most pickups are attached with some sort of embellishment or medallion. In order for the dress to support the extra weight, pickups are usually attached pretty securely.

Not only would your dress look bad if you took them down, chance are good that you'd have a bunch of holes in whatever material the skirt is made out of.

If you like the dress without the pickups, then do what someone else advised and get a custom made wedding gown without the pickups. This can be done at a reasonable cost and you can get what you really want. Not settle for something that you dont'!
